Day 10 — Excuses

The mind is an expert at exploiting your weaknesses.

It knows which buttons to push to stray you off the path. Which excuses to whisper to make you falter.

Since we always perceive time to be infinite, or at the very least abundant, we can often accept these excuses.

We skip doing our tasks today because we assume tomorrow will come.

The problem with this, and why you must change your mindset about it, is the following:

What you do with your time today is who you’ll become tomorrow.

Days turn into weeks, which turns into months, and consequentially years, faster than we all expect.

As such, in the words of Marcus Aurelius:

“Don’t behave as if you are destined to live forever. What’s fated hangs over you. As long as you live and while you can, become good now.

Question to journal on:

  1. What currently holds you back the most? (Bad-habits, vices, etc.)
  2. Which of these is the most detrimental/damaging?
  3. How is it currently affecting you?
  4. Who could you be if you were to remove this?
  5. What is a small step you can take to remove this bad habit?
  6. Schedule the doing of this step

Farewell and best of luck.
